The Salton Sea Crown is a rivalry that developed in Season 10, after the Long Beach Flightless Birds and Tucson Butchers met for a third time in the Cold League Championship Series.
History
During Season 1, in the first ever Cold League Championship series, the Long Beach Flightless Birds defeated the Tucson Butchers on their way to the first ever Hellmouth Cup.
In Season 9 the same Cold League Championship Series matchup between the Butchers and the Birds occurred, but with a different outcome: the Tucson Butchers defeated the Flightless Birds. The Tucson Butchers and Long Beach Flightless Birds met in a third Cold League Championship Series in Season 10, when they formally established a rivalry.
Salton Sea
The Salton Sea was selected as the most notable landmark approximately between the two cities, and each year the Butchers and the Birds make the trek out to the Salton Sea, where all 12,000 players from each team converge on the seaside resort of Bombay Beach at the end of each season for an awards ceremony, with informal Golly matches and parties occurring after.
