The Salton Sea Crown is a rivalry that developed in Season 10, after the Long Beach Flightless Birds and Tucson Butchers met for a third time in the Cold League Championship Series.

History

During Season 1, in the first ever Cold League Championship series, the Long Beach Flightless Birds defeated the Tucson Butchers on their way to the first ever Hellmouth Cup.

In Season 9 the same Cold League Championship Series matchup between the Butchers and the Birds occurred, but with a different outcome: the Tucson Butchers defeated the Flightless Birds. The Tucson Butchers and Long Beach Flightless Birds met in a third Cold League Championship Series in Season 10, when they formally established a rivalry.

Salton Sea

Bombay Beach, known throughout the world for its unique beaches and powerful aroma, was selected as the location of the annual awards ceremony.

The Salton Sea was selected as the most notable landmark approximately between the two cities.

Each season, the Butchers and the Birds make an annual trek out to the Salton Sea, where all 12,000 players from each team converge on the seaside resort of Bombay Beach at the end of each season for an awards ceremony, with informal Golly matches and parties occurring after.

Bombay Beach is home to a thriving tourism industry, and there are plenty of opportunities for water sports, fishing, swimming, and other water splorts.
