In Dragon/Season 17 the SCS.png Sand City Sidewinders swept the BBR.png Berkeley Brutalists 4-0 in the Season 17 Dragon Cup Series in the Squeaky Sweep. It was only the second sweep that had ever occurred in the Dragon Cup. It happened one season after the first sweep (see the Season 16 Dragon Cup Series).

The sweep earned the nickname The Squeaky Sweep because the BBR.png Berkeley Brutalists lost Game 4 by a single point. The final score was 5,850 - 5,849 (see DragonCup.png 23792408-4863-4c88-9033-2a338076187f). The loss occurred in the final generations of the game, and the grid was immediately rushed by fans, making it impossible for the Brutalists to challenge the ruling of the Grid Umpires and leading to a slew of conspiracy theories that are widely discussed in online forums. These forums are hosted on public computers in the basement of the Berkeley Public Library, and as those computers are occasionally stolen, Brutalists fans have developed an elaborate network of oral historians to preserve the most culturally significant conspiracy theories surrounding the Squeaky Sweep.

The Brutalists are convinced that all they need to do is have the final call of the game declared incorrect after the fact by a Grid Umpire, and that would lead to the outcome of the game getting tossed out, forcing the entire series outcome to be invalidated, leaving the final champion undetermined, making the postseason a violation of the rules, rendering it null, void, and invalid. To this day, despite the Dragon Cup having concluded, the Brutalists are still pursuing various legal options.

The Brutalists did manage to get revenge on the Sidewinders; despite a dominant postseason performance by the SCS.png Sand City Sidewinders , which culminated in a rare championship series sweep of the Brutalists and the establishment of a Sidewinders Dynasty, the Sidewinders were viewed less favorably after the sweep by nearly all of the fans, eventually becoming known by the derisive nickname, "The One Point Wonder". The Brutalists were behind a major media blitz with ads featuring the "One Point Wonder" nickname to diminish the Sidewinders' victory and tarnish their reputation. The ads included celebrities, actors, and puppies. The campaign was a smashing success, resulting in the Sidewinders' One Point Wonder nickname sticking permanently.

The Squeaky Sweep is considered the most significant single-season defeat since the stunning upset of the OB.png Oakland Bees in the final generations of Game 7 of the Season 1 Pseudo Cup Series.
