If there is one thing people know about the Detroit Grape Chews , it's that the Grape Chews don't have many good revenge stories. Perhaps it's because the club is resigned to its fate, perhaps it's due to lack of gaining the upper hand first. But one happy (for Detroit) story of revenge in a long, long history without it occurred in Hellmouth II/Season 23.

Having been brutalized four consecutive seasons, Hellmouth II/Season 7 through Hellmouth II/Season 10, by the San Francisco Boat Shoes in the League Division Series, the Grape Chews were itching for revenge. When they entered the Hellmouth II/Season 23 postseason as the #1 seed, facing off against the #4 seeded Boat Shoes, they saw their chance. The Chews did not just beat the Shoes, denying them their final opportunity at Hellmouth II Cup redemption, they crushed the Boat Shoes in 3 straight games. There was much discussion about the fate of the Boat Shoes, who had seemed to be making a genuine effort in all 3 games. In truth, the Boat Shoes getting swept allowed them to make their final payment on their Probability Debt, and close out the Hellmouth II Cup at zero.
