As the seasons of the Hellmouth II Cup progressed, and as the San Francisco Boat Shoes struggled to pay down their debt and get back to even, the Shoes increasingly found themselves unable to "close it out," with seemingly every postseason series running to the maximum number of games. It started in Hellmouth II/Season 4 with their humiliation at the hands of the Jersey OSHA Violations in the final Game 5, but would go on to include the Hellmouth II/Season 7 LDS and LCS, the Hellmouth II/Season 8 LCS, the Hellmouth II/Season 9 LDS and LCS, and the Hellmouth II/Season 10 LDS and LCS. (This would also later include the LDS in Season 13, Season 15, Season 16, and Season 17.) Tragically, despite reaching the Championship Series 4 times, despite pushing it to the max 7 games each time, they did not have a single Championship series win to show for it.
