The rivalry between the Tucson Butchers and Phoenix Freshrolls , better known as the Peppersauce Crown, is a bitter and existential struggle for the soul of Arizona. The Butchers, embodying the wild, untamed spirit of the Sonoran Desert, see the Freshrolls as usurpers - their human-made, perfectly-curated, concrete existence an affront to the natural order. Phoenix, with its sprawling housing developments unfurling like carpet across the desert, represents everything the Butchers despise: the taming of the wild, the suppression of the primal. Every match is a battle for the very essence of Arizona: the fight is one between the coyote and the Homeowner's Association, the untamed hostile wilderness and the manicured golf course.
