Teased with the promise of continued success by their Toroidal/Season 6 victory, but still suffering from the ill effects of Donut Sickness, the San Francisco Boat Shoes soon found themselves sliding into a deep funk. Over the course of a dozen seasons, the Boat Shoes bumped their head on the ceiling of the Division Series or Championship Series five times without success.

The Boylston Boogers in particular were a recurring nightmare for the Boat Shoes, culminating in a Toroidal/Season 14 Division Series sweep by the Boogers of the #1-seeded Boat Shoes. The division series sweep, coming as it did when they were the top seed, humiliated the Boat Shoes, and left them desperate for their glory days.

But the desperation of Toroidal/Season 14 was nothing compared to the devastation that Toroidal/Season 15 would bring, in the form of one fateful series with their most bitter rivals.
