Donut Sickness

From Golly.Life Wiki

Donut Sickness colloquially refers to the inability of the SFBS.png San Francisco Boat Shoes to devise successful strategies or patterns for the Toroidal Cup, due to the introduction of a periodic grid.

While the SFBS.png San Francisco Boat Shoes cemented their legend in the Hellmouth Cup, the Toroidal Cup was a different beast entirely — the Cup introduced a new periodic grid, causing patterns to wrap around the edges and back onto the other side of the grid. This proved to be profoundly problematic for the Boat Shoes, whose winning strategies did not translate to periodic grids. Their inability to devise or execute winning strategies was dubbed "Donut Sickness" and would afflict them for the entire Toroidal Cup. Far from making history, the Boat Shoes provided a cautionary tale of hubris, showing the league that even the greatest Dynasty could not last forever.
