The Boat Shoes got their first taste of victory in Season 3. Entering the playoffs as the #2 seed, they dispatched the Atlanta Glitter Sharks in a tight 5-game series, then fought back the Big Purple Machine (early Hellmouth Cup nickname for the Detroit Grape Chews ) to reach the Hellmouth Cup, where they defeated the Elko Astronauts 4-3 in a legendary, seven-game epic series.

Just 3 seasons later, in Season 6, the Boat Shoes showed that their fast-paced, rapid-response style that let them run circles around the opposition was still working, despite fervent efforts by other teams to develop defenses. The Boat Shoes dismantled the Orlando Business Majors 3-1, hung on through a messy championship series against the red-hot Alewife Arsonists to clinch the pennant, and tied the San Diego Balloon Animals in knots with a 4-1 series victory. With this, the Boat Shoes had established themselves as an institution.

But the Boat Shoes were still hungry for a Dynasty.
