The Purple Gang was an attempted Klein Cup reincarnation of the famed, but ultimately doomed and cursed, Big Purple Machine which showed immense promise in the Hellmouth Cup postseason, only to bomb out and choke in the most critical moments.

The Purple Gang was forged in the camraderie of the Detroit Grape Chews disposal of their bitter rivals, the Milwaukee Flamingos , with a pickup truck out to a "Grape Processing Facility" in Little Jerusalem.

However, they began to experience highly volatile performance as the Purple Gang, consistently reaching the Championship Series round, only to be denied in the most painful ways, like being repeatedly killed and resurrected:
