The Blackening, and periodic replacement of each banana, led to the use of the nickname "Ship of Theseus" to refer to the Bananas team as early as Pseudo/Season 1.

As the Pseudo Cup progressed, and as the Bananas continued to fail to reach the Pseudo Cup Series, they began to be referred to throughout the league as Choke Artists. The curse keeping them from reaching the final Cup series was attributed to The Blackening, so it was nicknamed the Curse of Theseus.
