The Pacific Grove Monarchists are a Golly team from Pacific Grove, California. They replaced the Seaside Swashbucklers , who were incinerated at the end of Toroidal/Season 20 (as part of the Thuper Crown). The Monarchists are vocal proponents of monarchy, advocating for the monarchy to the point of alienating family and friends. They are also members of an organized butterfly protection racket.

The Pacific Grove Monarchists are members of an organized butterfly protection racket.

The Monarchists spend much of their free time volunteering for the City of Pacific Grove. City Ordinance Number 352 makes it illegal to kill or to threaten a butterfly, punishable by a $1,000 fine, so the Monarchists will help the City to make extra cash by cruising the town looking for people threatening butterflies.

The City of Pacific Grove has received numerous complaints over the years from innocent residents who have been hassled by the Pacific Grove Monarchists for allegedly threatening butterflies. Many upset residents claim the arrangement is just a butterfly protection racket being run by city council members, who are using a Golly team for muscle. The City has even gone so far as to set aside special "zones" throughout the city, which are sanctioned areas of the city that are exclusively controlled by the butterflies.

Dragon Division Firewall

In the Dragon Cup, the Pacific Grove Monarchists reached the postseason 4 times (S1, S8, S9, S11) only to lose in the League Division Series each time. Fans of the Monarchists refer to this inability to progress past the Division Series ad the "Division Series Firewall," or simply The Firewall.

A panel of psychoanalysts was commissioned by the Monarchists to look into possible reasons for their poor performance in the Division Series. The psychoanalysts found that in each of the four division series, their Lovers Point Crown anti-rivals, the Monterey Meteorologists , were in the other division series. They have hypothesized that the Monarchists, being overcautious by nature and not wanting to irk their anti-rivals the Meteorologists, have simply opted not to take the risk of having to face the Meteorologists in the League Championship Series.
