Fixing Scandal
Main: Season 3/Fixing Scandal
During the Season 3 postseason, several news organizations uncovered statistical anomalies suggesting that Golly matches were being fixed. The scandal resulted in numerous lawsuits, with one making it to the Hellmouth Supreme Court. In the midst of the scandal, the Commissioners Office announced several brand-new maps for Season 4 while also making promises to reform Golly. The promised reforms were abandoned several days after the scandal had died down, although The Bug at the heart of the scandal was repaired.
Season
Wins
- In the Cold Fire division, the Long Beach Flightless Birds just barely edged out the Elko Astronauts to take first place, both being helped by a crucially-timed mid-season winning streak
- The Cold Water division was close all season, with the San Diego Balloon Animals breaking away in the last few days to take first place
- In the Hot Fire division, the Delaware Corporate Shells spent most of the season scraping the bottom. The San Francisco Boat Shoes were also looking pretty bad mid-season but turned things around in the second half with two big winning streaks.
- In the Hot Water division, the Orlando Business Majors took a commanding lead but ended up slipping behind the Atlanta Glitter Sharks

Runs
- The Orlando Business Majors racked up big numbers mid-season, which helped get them into first place in Hot Water. The Atlanta Glitter Sharks overtook the Business Majors despite much weaker offensive numbers.
- The San Francisco Boat Shoes took half the season to wake up, but when they finally did, it was just in time to win the division by sneaking into first place with minimal effort
