- In one of the biggest surprises of the season, the
Milwaukee Flamingos
managed to turn things around in a hurry - on Day 30, the Flamingos were at the bottom of the league. But the offense turned up the heat as the season progressed, and the Flamingos, who would eventually win the championship, barely squeaked through the season and into the playoffs.

Snowbird Series
The Season 9 Hellmouth Cup was referred to as the Snowbird Series, after the large flocks of winter visitors from Milwaukee who pack up and leave for warmer climates (such as Tucson) in the winter.
