The
Vegas Vampires
(The Vamps) are a Golly team from Las Vegas, Nevada. They are definitely not vampires, and there is no evidence to support that claim.
Immediately after the Vampires first joined Golly, it quickly became clear (through a series of mysterious incidents that affected all involved) to all fans, teams, players, and the Commissioner of Golly that the Vegas Vampires are exceedingly powerful, actually psychic, very well-connected, and possess a fortune so vast, that even comprehending its magnitude would special intensive training. The Commissioner wisely allowed the Vampires to stay in the league despite these facts. The Vampires are exceedingly secretive about their past and about their activities, and no one knows either the source of their power, or the source of their connections.
Some fans speculate that the Vegas Vampires are time travelers from the future, and that their vast wealth, power, and connections were established using information from the future. This is probably not true, because it would involve multiple clashing genres. Proponents of the theory (including the
Elko Astronauts
) argue that if vampires are real, time travel and intelligent extraterrestrial life must therefore logically also be real as well, obviously, and the Vampires are clearly time travelers. (Ghosts, too.)
Team Character
The Vegas Vampires are not actually vampires. Any resemblance to actual vampires is a coincidence. However, there are some facts about the Vegas Vampires that might lead certain kinds of nosy people who are unscrupulous and jump to conclusions about things they don't know anything about to believe they are vampires. They are not, and any such claims are false.
The Vampires usually wake up at dusk and are active at night. They insist that their unusual sleeping schedule is "for work," and that they are employed by "a casino," and that any resemblance of their home to certain Eastern European castles is purely in keeping with the aesthetics and theme of the casino. Furthermore, they insist that their peculiar taste in bed frames, which some might describe as being "coffin-like," is a meditative reminder that we are but flesh and blood. Hot blood, coursing through the veins. Life-giving blood.
When they first joined the league, the Vegas Vampires politely requested that all opponents make special accommodations to play the Vegas Vampires at night only. When teams complained, the Vampires requested and received a special dispensation from the Commissioner to require that all teams accommodate their special request that they only play night games. The Vampires refuse to discuss the request or the reason for it, deferring again to "work reasons." When prompted about the special dispensation, the Commissioner of Golly became frantic and babbled about "blood, so much blood."
Mirrors and garlic are not allowed within 500 feet of any grid involving a Vegas Vampires game, for safety reasons.
