The Rainbow Cup is a Golly cup championship series devised by the X Division. The Cup consists of matches between four teams, represented by 2D cellular automata on a two-dimensional periodic grid. Each Rainbow Cup season consists of a regular season of 9 games, two league championship series of 9 games each, and finally the Rainbow Cup series, consisting of 9 games.

Match Format

The match format for the Rainbow Cup is slightly different than for 1 vs 1. Match outcomes (1st/2nd/3rd/4th) result in a number of rainbows being awarded to each team:

• 1st Place: 11 rainbows
• 2nd Place: 7 rainbows
• 3rd place: 3 rainbows
• 4th place: 0 rainbows

For example, a team with 2 first-place finishes, a third-place finish, and 2 last-place finishes would have a W-2-3-L record of 2-0-1-2, and they would have 2*11 + 3 = 25 rainbows.
